Future-Ready with Music

TM

At Bravo! Music Academy, we believe music learning builds skills today's fast-changing world actually demands - sustained focus, resilience, structured problem-solving, and the confidence to perform under pressure.

Every student receives personalised instruction that blends enjoyment, understanding, and performance: learning to appreciate music, building a genuine grasp of theory and structure, and developing the technical foundation to back it up. Students also have the opportunity to perform in our annual student recitals.

Bravo! Music Academy was founded by Zhibin Chiam, a professional pianist with over a decade of performance experience - including a solo recital at Esplanade Recital Studio. That same standard of performing artistry shapes everything Bravo! teaches: every teacher who joins Bravo! is chosen and trained to bring real stage experience into the practice room, not just technique.

About Bravo! Music Academy

Bravo! - the word audiences call out when a performance is done right - is built on a simple belief: that music is best taught by those who live it on stage, not only in the practice room.

We currently offer personalised piano instruction for students of all ages and levels, from first-time beginners to advanced pianists preparing for exams or performance, at our studio in Katong Shopping Centre, equipped with a baby grand piano.

As Bravo! grows, we're building toward a full music academy - welcoming teachers in other instruments and vocal training who share this same standard of artistry and care.

About our Principal Zhibin Chiam

Zhibin Chiam lives for the magical moments of sharing great music with audiences worldwide. He worked as a piano accompanist for 12 years before he played for the Belgian-American concert pianist Tedd Joselson and with Joselson's guidance has been developing his distinctive pianism of sensitivity, refinement and imagination ever since.

Zhibin Chiam has played with the Orquestra do Algarve and the Orchestra delle Cento Città, played with the conductors Marius Stravinsky and Maurizio Colasanti, recorded the Adagio from Grieg's Piano Concerto with the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic conducted by Gevorg Sargsyan in Zlin, Czechia for Cicerone Music & Art. His performances have taken him to Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Hong Kong and Singapore where he has played solo recitals at the Esplanade Recital Studio and at Nanyang Technological University. His audiences have included former Singaporean Members of Parliament Chan Soo Sen and Seng Han Thong, and dignitaries from the Embassy of Italy and the Embassy of The Federal Republic of Germany in Singapore.

A pianist of distinctive pedigree, Zhibin Chiam presently studies with Tedd Joselson and is an heir in the lineage of Vladimir Horowitz, Rudolf Serkin and Clifford Curzon. He has studied with Boris Kraljevic who is a postgraduate of the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow in the class of Lev Naumov, a pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus. He has taken masterclasses with Mikhail Voskresenky (who worked with Dmitri Shostakovich), Jean-David Coen, Ian Jones, David Fung, Rixiang Huang, Danijel Gasparovic and Christopher Elton. He also attended a summer school at the Musikakademie Tübingen, Germany where he studied with Wei Tsin-Fu.

Zhibin Chiam has garnered multiple awards and prizes including Bronze Hands at the Carles and Sofia International Piano Competition 2024, Distinction at the WPTA Italy International Piano Competition 2024, Silver Award at the 5th WPTA Singapore International Piano Competition 2023, Special Prize in the 2023 Pacific Stars International Piano Competition, and Bronze Award in the 1st WPTA Singapore International Piano Competition.

Testimonials

When I was looking for a piano teacher for my 8-year-old son, my goal was not only to improve his technique but also to help him bring more expression and soul into his playing.
After just one trial lesson, my son was absolutely certain that he wanted to learn from this teacher. That alone speaks volumes.
What stands out most is his teaching approach. He is soft-spoken, patient, and always treats his students with respect. He corrects mistakes and gives feedback in a constructive and encouraging way, never through pressure or force. He communicates with his students as capable individuals, which has helped my son feel confident, motivated, and eager to learn.
He is also incredibly meticulous in his teaching. Beyond showing students what notes to play, he pays close attention to the small technical details that make a real difference in musicality and expression. He shares not only the "how" but also the "why" behind each technique, helping students develop a deeper understanding of music.
Most importantly, he inspires his students to make music rather than simply play the piano. We are grateful to have found a teacher who combines technical excellence with genuine care and respect for his students.

Sylvia Kwok

Our daughter started piano lessons at just 4.5 years old, and we couldn’t have asked for a better teacher to begin her musical journey. He is incredibly sincere, warm, and friendly, creating a nurturing environment where she feels comfortable and excited to learn. His patience and genuine care for young children shine through in every class. We’ve already noticed her growing enthusiasm for music, and we’re grateful to have found such a wonderful teacher for her first steps into piano.
